bttns running firmware version March 2016 (201603):


1 - Is your Wi-Fi working on 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g/n*) frequency? bttn does not support 5 GHz frequency. 

* bttns shipped after February 2016 and running fw 201603 will work with 2.4 GHz 802.11n networks. bttns shipped before early 2016 or running an earlier fw version do not support 802.11n.


2 - Is there a comma (,) in your Wi-Fi networks SSID or password? bttn does not support comma currently.


3 - Can you see bttn under your Wi-Fi router's client list? bttn's MAC address starts with 00:80:..


4 - If none of the above help you out, please try creating a temporary guest network* or try tethering with a smartphone. If bttn can connect through that, there could be a problem in your Wi-Fi router's settings.


bttns running firmware version June 2015 (201506):


1 - Is your Wi-Fi working on 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g) frequency? bttn does not support 5 GHz frequency. 

-Apple Airport and Apple Time Capsule users must use "b/g compatibility mode" in Airport radio settings.


2 - Is there a comma (,) in your Wi-Fi networks SSID or password? bttn does not support comma currently.


3 - Can you see bttn under your Wi-Fi router's client list? bttn's MAC address starts with 00:80:..


4 - If none of the above help you out, please try creating a temporary guest network* or try tethering with a smartphone. If bttn can connect through that, there could be a problem in your Wi-Fi router's settings.


bttns running firmware version March 2015 (201503):


1 - If you have a combined model (both Wi-Fi and mobile data radios), your bttn requires a manual restart after saving Wi-Fi settings. Remove power for 5 seconds and then re-insert power. Models with just Wi-Fi do not need to be manually restarted.


2 - Is there a comma (,) in your Wi-Fi networks SSID or password? bttn does not support comma currently.


3 - If you are using Safari and cannot access the Wi-Fi setup page 192.168.0.1/bttn - please try another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. This issue affects a small batch of bttns shipped in March 2015.


4 - Is your Wi-Fi working on 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g) frequency? bttn does not support 5 GHz frequency. Apple Airport and Apple Time Capsule users must use "b/g compatibility mode" in Airport radio settings.

7 - For advanced settings, start bttn in Wi-Fi access point mode again, join bttnconf network and use your browser to go to 192.168.0.1 root (no /bttn at the end). Enter "anonymous" in the first field (miniAP PassKey).


bttns running firmware version December 2014 (201412):


1 - Does your network SSID or password have non-alphanumeric characters (spaces, special characters - anything else than letters and numbers)? The old 201412 firmware version does not support special characters.


2 - Is your Wi-Fi working on 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g) frequency? bttn does not support 5 GHz frequency. Apple Airport and Apple Time Capsule users must use "b/g compatibility mode" in Airport radio settings.


3 - Are you trying to join an open network? See instructions for joining open networks.


4 - Is your Wi-Fi router using WPA/WPA2-personal (bttn's default) or WEP encryption? Please see setup instructions for WEP.


5 - Can you see bttn under your Wi-Fi router's client list? bttn's MAC address starts with 00:80:..


6 - If none of the above help you out, please try creating a temporary guest network* or try tethering with a smartphone. If bttn can connect through that, there could be a problem in your Wi-Fi router's settings.


7 - For advanced settings, start bttn in Wi-Fi access point mode again, join bttnconf network and use your browser to go to 192.168.0.1 root (no /bttn at the end). The first field (miniAP PassKey) is "anonymous".
